Astoria SQL Client
Designing and building a cross-platform MySQL desktop application
Astoria SQL Client is a cross-platform desktop application designed to make everyday work with MySQL databases faster, simpler and more comfortable for developers.
My role
As creator and sole developer since 2019, I am responsible for architecture, development, UX, testing, packaging, distribution, releases and the product website.
Key contributions
- Building a desktop application with Electron, React and TypeScript
- Developing database browsing, record management and an SQL editor
- Designing a workspace system that restores tabs and their order
- Implementing export to SQL, CSV, XLS, XLSX and ODS
- Creating an Export Library
- Adding connection management with encrypted password protection
- Supporting configurable workflows, light, dark and system themes
- Packaging and distributing the application for Windows and Linux
Results
The result is a complete desktop product combining database management, SQL development and data export tools in a focused interface.
